Texas
Melissa has her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Family Medicine and is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for her undergraduate nursing degree and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston for her doctorate degree.
Melissa has always been interested in medicine and has worked as a first responder with Search & Rescue, been a rural medicine volunteer in Rwanda with the United States Peace Corps, and has enjoyed a lengthy career as a bedside nurse in Baylor Scott & White’s emergency department downtown.
Melissa treats a broad range of acute and chronic health conditions across the lifespan. She believes that whole-person care is at the root of effective treatment and disease management. Melissa recognizes that every body system works together to influence overall health, including behavioral and mental wellness. Her approach blends evidence-based medicine with personalized planning to emphasize prevention, education, and collaborative care for each individual patient. With particular interest in metabolic conditions (like PCOS, high cholesterol, and diabetes), she strives to create an enviroment where patients feel heard, supported, and truly empowered to take an active role in their health journey.
Beyond work, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son. In addition, she’s been known to spend an entire day (or two or three) lounging around reading, snuggled up with her two dogs.
