Integrative Psychiatry

What is Integrative Psychiatry?

A holistic approach to mental health that integrates traditional psychiatric treatments like medication with complementary therapies such as nutrition, exercise, specialty labs, and dietary supplements.

What does integrative Psychiatry treatment look like in practice?

First, we gauge your interest in an integrative approach during the initial evaluation visit. Integrative interventions could look like gut microbiome testing or evidence based dietary supplements without or without traditional medications. We help you weigh the risks and benefits and move forward with a collaborative plan together and revise over time as needed.

Why does Carencia offer integrative psychiatry services?

Carencia has experienced the improvement in symptoms and quality of life that conventional psychiatric treatments offer individuals. We have also experienced their shortcomings. We realized over the many years our communities including referral sources, current and potential clients were wanting more out of their care. We decided it was time to establish a more integrative approach to healing those with mental health needs outside of the restrictive method of using only conventional medications for symptom relief and looking toward a more comprehensive approach to exploring root causes, healing the mind through the body and our behaviors.

01

What is the difference between Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Integrative Psychiatry? +

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a specific form of psychotherapy that focuses on changing negative thought and behavior patterns to improve mental health. Integrative Psychiatry, on the other hand, combines conventional psychiatric treatments (like medication) with alternative therapies (such as nutrition and mindfulness) to provide a more holistic approach to mental health care.

02

Do I have to agree to take medication to work with your practice or providers? +

No. Our company resolves to treat our patients with an Integrative and wholistic approach, so that we can treat you as a whole person, not just your symptoms.

03

Does Carencia offer referrals to other practices for Integrative Psychiatry? +

During integrative psychiatry, we don’t shy away from making thoughtful referrals to other practices as revelations come to light. We want to help you achieve mental wellness and physical fitness and can make the recommendations necessary to achieve that goal.

We are passionate about acting as a partner, not a competitor, to foster a community that truly prioritizes mental healthcare.

04

What is Carencia’s integrative psychiatry approach? +

Carencia exists to provide a humanistic approach to mental healthcare, and integrative psychiatry fully embodies that mindset. By considering the whole person and everything you’re experiencing in your mind and body, we’re able to arrive at more effective treatment strategies and more resilient results.

Just integrative psychiatry involves considering the whole person, the individualized treatment plan we create for you may involve strategies that engage the mind, body, and lifestyle in pursuit of comprehensive improvement.
