What is injection treatment?

Like all medications, Carencia takes a cautious approach to using injections as part of a treatment plan. We always begin with a holistic, humanistic treatment strategy and bring in medications like injections only when we believe it’ll be integral to your mental wellness progress.

The most common injections we use are Naltrexone, also known as Vivitrol, and Buprenorphine, also known as Suboxone and Sublocade. These are both used most often when treating individuals for substance abuse and addiction-related issues.

This is the most common form of MAT. Naltrexone blocks the effects of opiates on the brain and can also be used for alcohol addiction. Vivitrol is a prescription injectable medication for alcohol and opioid dependence that is administered every month. Carencia offers the administration of Vivitrol as part of its Medication-Assisted Treatment plans.

Though Buprenorphine most commonly comes in pill form, it is also offered as a monthly injectable called Sublocade. Paired with a solid counseling plan, Sublocade is a safe and effective treatment for opioid dependency.

Why does Carencia offer injection treatments?

Injections are a part of your treatment plan only when Carencia is absolutely sure it will make a meaningful difference. When patients are struggling with addiction and substance abuse, there are occasions when a medication-assisted path is truly the right way forward.

We always exercise caution when advising injections. Each medication has its own unique side effects and precautions, and we will discuss all of this with you in-depth during treatment.
