Lauren Brown

Student

Lauren joined Carencia for her internship after moving to Texas from New Hampshire. In New England, she spent ten years working in law enforcement, primarily as an investigator of special victims’ crimes.

Desiring a change of venue to serve, she began her nursing career as an Emergency Department RN in 2017 at a local community hospital. She completed her bachelor’s degree from Granite State College and spent the next 8 years working across all populations with varying acute and chronic medical conditions and injuries. Primarily working in critical access hospitals, Lauren learned to work well under pressure with limited resources. During her time as an RN, she obtained national certifications as a trauma nurse and became a sexual assault nurse examiner. Most recently, Lauren was appointed Director of Nursing & Clinical Services for a New England-based company that enhances support for rural hospitals.

Lauren’s combination of law enforcement and nursing paved the way for the pursuit of helping patients who are struggling with their mental health. The experience and insight from both careers made her realize that the physical body will suffer without a clear, hopeful mind.

Lauren is obtaining her Master’s in Nursing from Norwich University in Vermont and will be a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She treats patients across the lifespan with acceptance and understanding. She believes that wellness can be achieved by anyone who is willing to try. She hopes to utilize her training and experience to care for first responders, veterans, and healthcare workers.
